Hi, I’m Daniel. Let me tell you a bit about me.
I was born and brought up in Plymouth, Devon. I am from a service family, this is where my values and commitment to public service come from. My partner is a Totnes-based social worker. My father is ex-Royal Navy and trained at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. And last year, I completed a course at BRNC when serving as a reservist in the Royal Naval Reserve.
I was a Civil Servant until last month, working at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. I am proud to have represented the UK and its interests in Afghanistan, Egypt, the United Nations and many places in between with honesty, integrity and determination. I am an experienced administrator and policymaker.
Last month, I stood as the Labour & Co-operative candidate for Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner. I received nearly 108,000 votes and achieved a huge 15% swing to Labour and beat the Liberal Democrats into second place across Devon and Cornwall, including in South Hams. This shows Labour are a force to be reckoned with throughout the region with no ‘no-go’ areas.
